Nawala is a residential suburb between Colombo and Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte, about 6 km south of Colombo, within the Kotte municipality. It borders Nugegoda to the south, Narahenpita to the west and Rajagiriya. Largely uninhabited until the 1920s, it now has supermarkets, restaurants, banks and many ceramic shops. The Open University of Sri Lanka has its main campus here.
